Meet the Maui Realtor Mom Luana HueSing…
Luana is a real estate matchmaker and problem solver who helps home buyers and sellers achieve their goals in their time-frame, without pressure. Just great service!
Luana lives on the island of Maui in Hawaii with her blended family of 3 boys (22, 15, & 12 yrs old) and a 2 yr old grandson. These days they spend a lot of time at home due to Covid. Prior to Covid, her 15 yr old was in cross county and paddling. Her 12 yr old was in football. She believes it’s actually been nice not having to rush from one practice field to another. 🤣
You can listen to my conversation with Luana HueSing at the link above. Or get an overview below.
1. What do you do in your business and why did you choose it?
I’m a licensed real estate sales agent. I love helping my clients find the home of their dreams and build wealth. I don’t have a college degree. But I wanted to make the kind of income that required a degree. I was tired of living paycheck to paycheck. When I researched different careers and their incomes that required a degree, I started thinking about what options there were for me to earn that kind of income without a degree. Real estate is what popped into my mind. Which as crazy because this was in 2008 when the real estate world was crumbling. 12 years ago, I prayed and wrote in my journal “One day, I want to be a real estate agent.” 2 years ago, that prayer was answered and I became a licensed realtor.
2. What is your greatest strength when it comes to running your business?
I like to build connections with my clients and potential clients. I take them from confusion to clarity and confidence. I use social media to do that as well as provide helpful tips and education. Whether someone chooses me as their realtor or not, if they learn something new from me that helps them make one of the biggest purchases in their life, that’s a win for me.
3. What is the area of entrepreneurship where you could grow the most?
4. If you were to start your business over today, what piece of advice or lesson learned would you emphasize to yourself?
Stay focused on the goal. It’s so easy to get distracted with other projects or ways to make money. I’ve learned that entrepreneurship isn’t a sprint. It’s a learn as you go journey.
5. What is your best advice for balancing business and home life or creating intentional family time?
I’ve learned how to better manage my time from listening to your podcast. I used to wake up 30 minutes before the kids needed to be up and ready for school. I always felt like I was trying to catch up and keep up. But now, I wake up at 4:30am which gives me 4 hours of quiet time to get work done before the day gets busy and hectic. This new routine has helped me feel less stressed and be more focused with my kids during the day. I’m also less distracted when my husband gets home from work. It helps family time be more intentional and meaningful because my mind isn’t thinking about work that still needs to get done.
